AUTISM AND ADHD ASSESSMENT
AuDHD assessment: autism and ADHD assessed together, as one whole picture
Autism and ADHD often occur together. When both may be part of your story, or your child’s, one combined assessment looks at how they interact, instead of seeing each in isolation.
£3,000 for adults and £2,500 for children and young people, with one full written report. Your assessment starts within 2 weeks, and the whole process is completed within 6 weeks. Led by HCPC-registered clinicians under the clinical lead of Dr Uzaina, Practitioner Counselling Psychologist. Online across the UK where clinically suitable, and in person in London where it’s needed.
What is AuDHD?
“AuDHD” is a term many people use when someone is both autistic and has ADHD. It isn’t a separate diagnosis: it describes two conditions, each diagnosed on its own criteria, that often appear together.
Until 2013, the main diagnostic manual didn’t allow both to be diagnosed in the same person. Research now shows how common the overlap is: about 4 in 10 autistic people also meet the criteria for ADHD (Rong et al., 2021, a review of 63 studies), and about 1 in 5 children and young people with ADHD also meet the threshold for autism (Hollingdale et al., 2020, a review of 22 studies covering nearly 62,000 people).
Why assess both together?
Autism and ADHD can look alike, mask each other, or pull in different directions. A need for routine can sit alongside a pull towards novelty. Deep focus on interests can sit alongside difficulty starting everyday tasks. Sensory overwhelm can look like inattention.
Assessed separately, one can be missed, or experiences can be explained by only one of them. A combined assessment looks at both sets of criteria with the same history and observations, considers how they interact in daily life, and considers other explanations, such as anxiety, trauma or learning differences.

Who is it for?
People come to us for a combined assessment when, for example:
an adult has wondered about both autism and ADHD
someone diagnosed with one suspects the other
a single explanation has never quite fitted
a child shows signs of both, at home, at school, or both
a child has been assessed for one, but the picture still doesn’t make sense
You don’t need a GP referral. You can refer yourself or your child.
When one explanation hasn’t fitted
Some people have spent years with a diagnosis that explains part of their experience, but not all of it. Others have been told they can’t be autistic because they’re easily distracted, or can’t have ADHD because they love routine.
When both are present, each can hide the other, and the result is often exhaustion from working hard to cope.
Already diagnosed with one?
If you already have an autism or ADHD diagnosis, tell us when you enquire. We’ll read your existing report and may recommend a single assessment for the other condition instead of the combined assessment. The free discovery call helps you decide which is right.
What to expect
The number and length of appointments depend on your needs, so we’ll agree these with you before you start. We reply to every enquiry within 48 hours. Your assessment starts within 2 weeks, and your written report follows within 4–8 weeks of your final appointment.

01. Discovery call and enquiry
A first conversation
A free 30-minute discovery call to talk through your questions. We check whether a combined assessment is the right fit, or whether a single autism or ADHD assessment would be enough.
02. History and questionnaires
Building a full picture
A detailed developmental history, from early childhood to now. For children, this is with parents or carers; for adults, it can include someone who knew you as a child, if that’s possible. Standardised questionnaires for both autism and ADHD, with information from school or others where relevant.

03. Assessment and formulation
Looking at both together
Structured assessment and observation. Your clinician then brings everything together against DSM-5 and ICD-11 criteria for both conditions, with multidisciplinary input where clinically appropriate.
04. Feedback and your written report
Within 4–8 weeks of your final appointment
We explain what we found, and why, in plain language, with time for your questions. You receive one full written report covering both autism and ADHD, with recommendations specific to you or your child.

Online or in person?
Most assessments can take place online. Many people find it easier to take part from home, without travel or a clinic setting.
Online isn’t right for everyone. We may recommend some or all of the assessment in person if online appointments wouldn’t give enough reliable clinical information, or if it’s hard for you to take part meaningfully online. We decide this with you, case by case.
Making the assessment work for you
Tell us what helps, and we’ll do what we reasonably can. Options include:
reminders before each appointment
information about each appointment sent in advance
shorter sessions, or breaks during longer ones
clear written follow-up after appointments
help with the forms if they feel hard to get started on
moving around, fidget items or camera flexibility where clinically possible
other reasonable adjustments, discussed with you individually
What you can expect from the outcome
A combined assessment gives you a careful, reasoned clinical opinion on both conditions, and a fuller picture of strengths and needs. We’ll tell you honestly what we find, which may be autism, ADHD, both, or neither. Paying for an assessment doesn’t buy an outcome, and the report is useful whatever the outcome is.
Private assessment reports may be considered by NHS services, employers, education providers and other organisations. Acceptance, and any need for further review, is decided by the receiving organisation.
Medication and support after the assessment
Psyche Vitality’s clinicians don’t prescribe ADHD medication. If medication might help, your report can say so, and we’ll talk with you about the routes available, including through your GP. Whether a GP takes on prescribing after a private assessment is decided by the GP and local NHS arrangements.
Your report also includes practical recommendations for home, school, work and daily life. For trusted information, we recommend the NHS pages on autism and ADHD, NICE guidance (NG87, CG142 and CG128), the National Autistic Society, ADHD UK, the ADHD Foundation and Autistica.
Fees
Combined autism and ADHD assessment: £3,000 for adults, and £2,500 for children and young people.
This includes all assessment appointments, questionnaires, the feedback session and one full written report. Nothing costs extra, and you won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed to.
Booked separately, the assessments would cost £3,700 for adults (£2,500 + £1,200) or £3,200 for children and young people (£2,000 + £1,200).
