Dr Uzaina

Practitioner Counselling Psychologist

I have always wanted to understand people beyond what is visible on the surface: why two people can go through similar experiences and respond so differently, and how family, culture and expectation shape the way we see ourselves. Growing up and training in India, I saw how often emotional and psychological difficulties were misunderstood, minimised or simply not spoken about. That stayed with me.

My focus on autism and ADHD grew through clinical work, research and working with families. Again and again I met people who had spent years being told they were fine, difficult, too sensitive or not trying hard enough. Many were adults who had been missed: people who were working, studying, in relationships and very good at masking, while everyday life cost them far more effort than anyone could see.

I founded Psyche Vitality in India in 2016 to make psychological support more accessible and more connected to people's real lives. As I built it in the UK, that purpose stayed the same, and the work became increasingly focused on neurodevelopmental assessment and support. What I often felt was missing was clinical rigour and humanity together: taking recognised diagnostic standards seriously, without reducing a person to a questionnaire, a score or a single appointment. Culture and family belong in that picture, not in the background.

What keeps me going is the moment when something that has confused someone for years begins to make sense. Whether or not someone meets diagnostic criteria, I want them to leave feeling properly listened to, understanding how we reached our conclusion, what their strengths are and what could help next. Not just a label, but clarity.

My approach is neuroaffirming. That doesn't mean ignoring difficulty. It means recognising difference without treating it as a defect, while being honest about where support could help.

I am an HCPC-registered Practitioner Counselling Psychologist, a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (AFBPsS), with 13 years of clinical experience across India and the UK. I have advanced training in recognised assessment tools including ADOS-2, ADI-R, DIVA-5 and WISC-V. Alongside assessment, I offer therapy, supervision and training for professionals, and I research and publish on autism, digital health and women's well-being.
